Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich,
Let me congratulate you on the 26th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation. But the history of relations between our countries and peoples is much longer. We are united by a single Orthodox faith, a centuries-old common history, years of joint struggle and creation.
Together we resisted the expansion of aggressive powers, both from the East and West. We together defeated fascism in the Great Patriotic War. The Moldovan people will never forget all the good that Russia has done for us and continues to do.
To our great regret, today relations between our countries are not going through the best times. Certain forces within our country and beyond would like to sever good relations between Moldova and Russia. I am convinced that common sense will prevail and no one will be able to embroil our nations.
We have a lot to do in the way of joint cooperation and creation. I believe that our states have not only a glorious past, but also a worthy future.
