President Nicolae Timofti today conveyed a message of sympathy to his Turkish counterpart, Abdullah Gül, on an explosion occurred at a mine in the city of Manisa on 13 May evening. The accident claimed the lives of about 200 people, the presidential press service has reported.
The message says:

It is with great sadness we learned of the tragic accident in the coal mine in the province of Manisa, in the wake of which more human lives were lost.
We are by your side and the entire Turkish people in these difficult moments.
On behalf of the Moldovan people and on my own behalf, I ask you, Your Excellency, to convey our sincere condolences and deep compassion and solidarity to the mourning families.”.
