The Head of State met with the Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe

The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met yesterday with the Director of the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization Hans Henri P. Kluge. The discussion focused on our country's response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, but also on future cooperation.

The Head of State noted that our country hosts a large number of refugees and health care is part of the support they receive. In this context, the WHO official expressed her conviction that Moldova urgently needs help to sustain and expand its assistance efforts, and to ensure that the health needs of its own citizens are met.

President Maia Sandu thanked the WHO for its help in providing our country with the Covid-19 vaccine last year and expressed her hope to expand the bilateral cooperation. The priority remains WHO support for the ongoing needs of Moldova's health system and to improve access to essential health services, as well as the development of the digital medicine.
