The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, spoke today in Brussels with Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood. The two officials spoke in particular about the effects of the war in Ukraine on the Republic of Moldova and about our efforts to support Ukrainian refugees. The internal reforms we want to accelerate in order to strengthen our state have been also discussed, despite the uncertain situation in the region.
The head of state expressed her gratitude for the European assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova to overcome the economic and social consequences of the war, but also for the constant support for the reform agenda and the continuation of our European path. "For Moldova, European integration is, above all, a project of internal reform of the country, and the EU's support in this process is very important," said President Maia Sandu at the end of the meeting.
