President Maia Sandu had a meeting with MEPs Dragoș Tudorache and Andrzej Halicki on Saturday. The discussions focused on the cooperation between the European Parliament and the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the Jean Monnet Dialogue - the tool developed by the European Parliament to promote peace and democracy through parliamentary dialogue.
The president thanked the parliamentarians that the European legislature maintains the Republic of Moldova as a priority on the EU agenda and emphasized the progress that the governing team has made in fulfilling the 9 recommendations of the European Commission when granting the status of a candidate country for accession. The head of state noted that the government in Chisinau remains firm in its commitment to cleaning up and reforming the justice system, fighting big corruption and eliminating the influence of criminal groups on the economy, politics and the media.
The European Parliament is a true supporter of Moldova's European path, and President Maia Sandu reiterated the importance of cooperation with the European forum in order to accelerate our country's accession to the European Union.
