The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with a group of Italian and Romanian Members of the European Parliament's Renew Europe Group. The discussion focused on the security situation in the country and the region, the major economic impact the war in Ukraine has on the Republic of Moldova and the importance of deepening the cooperation with Italy and Romania.
President Maia Sandu said that, especially during these difficult times, the Republic of Moldova needs the help of the international community to cope with the unprecedented crises it is facing and to continue implementing the country's development agenda. As priorities, the Head of State highlighted the projects that would help creating alternative sources of energy. Maia Sandu also spoke of the need to increase European budget support for our country, as well as the importance of opening up European markets for Moldovan producers, who have been affected by the war.
MEPs reconfirmed their support for the political and economic transformations initiated in the Republic of Moldova and gave assurances that they will support our country in implementing the European agenda and in the process of EU integration.
