President Nicolae Timofti today attends the conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 21), in Paris, France.
Attending the summit are presidents and prime ministers of more than 145 countries. It is the most important climate change conference in the world, aiming to achieve an international anti-pollution agreement to keep global warming below 2°C.
During the evening session of the conference, President Timofti will give a speech on Moldova’s plans to reduce environment pollution and will unveil its position on international policies regarding climate change.
Before the meeting, the Moldovan president held short talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Ukrainian President Petro Poroșenko, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, Albanian President Bujar Nishani, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas. Timofti will hold a meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic this afternoon.
