Moldovan president receives distinction awarded by Romanian state

President Nicolae Timofti today received the National Order Collar of the Star of Romania at a ceremony organized at the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau today.

The distinction was handed to President Timofti by Romania’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has earlier awarded this distinction to President Timofti, as a token of high appreciation for his personal contribution to developing the friendship and cooperation relations between Romania and Moldova, for backing the democratic and European course of Moldova.

Attending the event were also First Lady Margareta Timofti, presidential advisers, academician Nicolae Dabija and others.
