The President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon had a working meeting with H.E. Thomas Baekelandt, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in our country, with residence in Bucharest, due to the end of his mandate.
The officials addressed topics related to the situation in internal and external politics, as well as the current state of Moldovan-Belgium relations.
The Head of State appreciated Mr. Ambassador’s activities in our country during the mandate as well as contribution made to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas of common interest.
Igor Dodon expressed his gratitude for the constant support to our country, mentioning that we continued to rely on the support of Belgium in modernization and development of the Republic of Moldova.
The President spoke about current political situation in the country highlighting the fact that it had been a very important period for Republic of Moldova, while the international support and internal consensus were offering to us a very good chance for development of the country, and we would seize this opportunity.
The Head of State also emphasized the fact that the presidential institution continued promoting a balanced foreign policy, building mutually advantageous relations both with the West and with the East.
At the end of the meeting, the President of the Republic of Moldova expressed his confidence that the bilateral relations would continue growing as well dynamically after the appointment of a new Ambassador.
