President Nicolae Timofti today visited the Defence Ministry, where he introduced new Defence Minister Viorel Cibotaru to officers and employees of the institution.
The president praised the qualities of Viorel Cibotaru and voiced confidence that the new leadership of the Defence Ministry would manage to ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, in the context of the complex regional situation.
President Nicolae Timofti thanked former Minister Valeriu Troenco for his work, aimed at transforming the Armed Forces into a modern military structure, ready to face any threats to the state security.
President Nicolae Timofti handed Viorel Cibotaru the defence minister's banner, established by presidential decree on 17 June 2014, and offered former minister, Valeriu Troenco, a copy.
