President Maia Sandu met today with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio, who is on a working visit to Chisinau. The discussion focused on security developments in the country and the region, the major economic impact the war in Ukraine has on the Republic of Moldova and the bilateral agenda.
The head of Italian diplomacy said that his country fully supports Moldova's European course. According to Minister Luigi Di Maio, the European future of our country is proven by the transformations started in the last year, but also by the exemplary way in which, in these weeks, our authorities and citizens are facing the large flow of refugees from Ukraine, offering them shelter and safety.
President Maia Sandu reaffirmed Moldova's European aspirations and said that, especially in this difficult period, our country needs support to be able to cope with unprecedented crises and to continue implementing its development agenda.
