The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. The officials discussed social and educational projects carried out in our country by UNICEF, as well as the situation of refugee children from Ukraine.
The Head of State thanked UNICEF for the contribution of the UN agency to improving the living and educational conditions of children in Moldova and for the support provided during the Covid-19 pandemic. Referring to children from Ukrainian families who are in our country because of the war, Mrs. Maia Sandu noted that joint efforts and continued international support are needed to ensure their access to social, health and educational services.
The interlocutors also talked about bilateral cooperation in the field of education. President Maia Sandu reaffirmed her support for education reform in Moldova, in order to give every child and young person the chance to get a quality education.
