President Maia Sandu invited the new President of Switzerland to visit Moldova

Moldovan President Maia Sandu met with Alain Berset, the new President of the Swiss Confederation. The head of state thanked President Berset for Switzerland's consistent support for Moldova's reforms and modernisation efforts, while expressing her wish to further strengthen the Moldovan-Swiss partnership.

"I conveyed to President Berset our gratitude for the excellent cooperation we have built with Switzerland in recent years, but also for the development programmes supported by the Swiss Government in the Republic of Moldova over time in various sectors: local development, infrastructure, education and health," said President Maia Sandu.

The interlocutors also discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of anti-corruption and recovery of stolen goods from our citizens, as well as the opportunity to sign a social protection agreement between the two countries. The head of state also invited her Swiss counterpart to visit Moldova: "Switzerland is an important development partner of the Republic of Moldova, we value and want to build on and expand this partnership, including by signing the European Free Trade Area Agreement EFTA in the interest of the citizens of both countries".
