The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met today with the President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits who is on an official visit to our country. During the meeting the officials discussed the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the security challenges in the region, condemning atrocities against the civilians in Ukrainian cities. The Head of State thanked President Levits for the decision to receive 500 Ukrainian refugees coming to Moldova and for the humanitarian aid offered to our country for managing the refugee flow.
President Maia Sandu thanked Latvia for its full support for Moldova's European aspirations. "We appreciate the good relations of cooperation and friendship between our countries in areas such as good governance, regional development, the fight against corruption and cyber security. We want to extend them for citizens' benefits. But any development needs, first of all, peace", President Maia Sandu said.
