The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu met in the evening with Samantha Power, USAID/U.S. Agency for International Development Administrator. The American official is on a working visit to Chisinau. The discussion focused on the situation in our country and in the region, as well as on the socio-economic consequences of the war in Ukraine.
"We talked about the hosting of refugees from Ukraine in Moldova, the security situation in the region and the challenges our country has been facing since the beginning of the war. Mrs. Samantha Power appreciated our citizens’ efforts in the context of the humanitarian crisis in the neighboring country and reconfirmed the support of the United States Government for Moldova's reform agenda," President Maia Sandu declared after the joint press conference.
She also said that the citizens of Moldova want to build a competitive, innovative and resilient country with the support of its development partners and we need peace for that.
