The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met with her Austrian counterpart during her visit to Salzburg. "I had a warm meeting with the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen - a good friend of the Republic of Moldova. I thanked President Van der Bellen for the support that the Republic of Moldova enjoys from the Austrian Republic, both through development assistance and support for our European path," the head of state said.
With the assistance of the Austrian Development Agency, we are raising the living standards of our citizens. With Austrian support, a water treatment plant is being built in Edineț, which will benefit about 26 thousand citizens of Edineț municipality and Cupcini town.
"We also discussed the importance of initiating the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the EU as soon as possible. Finally, I invited President Van der Bellen to visit the Republic of Moldova this year. We will continue the collaboration between our countries, to realize as many joint projects as possible for citizens and to strengthen peace and stability on the European continent", concluded the head of state.
