Today, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, at his initiative, had a meeting with Eduard Smirnov, member of the Moldovan Parliament, dean of the legislative body, who, according to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, is to chair the constitutive session of the newly elected legislature.
The officials discussed details of the first Parliament session scenario and the date of its convocation.
According to the Constitution, the meeting of the new Legislature is convened by the President of the Republic of Moldova within 30 days after the election – in this case, by March 25. The newly elected Parliament is chaired by the oldest MP.
