President of Moldova Igor Dodon today held several bilateral meetings with senior officials from several countries, who attended the inauguration ceremony of President of the Republic of Moldova.
During the meeting with the delegation of Belarus headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Russyj, there were discussed several issues of mutual interest in trade, economic, investment, entrepreneurship fields, including in the sphere of construction machinery, agricultural exports, wine production, production of medicines, mineral fertilizers etc.
Igor Dodon said that Moldova and Belarus had all possibilities to increase trade exchange: "Our countries have all opportunities to increase mutual trade exchange up to $400 mln. annually. I supported the idea of opening trade houses in the capitals of the two countries. I pointed out that Belarus, largely managed not only to maintain best practices in social and economic areas of Soviet period, but multiply them in new and difficult new economic realities. Belarus, led by President Alexander Lukashenko, is an example to us in this context."
Michael Russyj sent on behalf of President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, congratulatory messages on the occasion of the investiture in office, and the invitation to undertake a visit to the Belarusian capital. "I gladly accepted the invitation. The visit date is to be agreed in the nearest future", said Igor Dodon.
During the meeting with the delegation of the French Republic, headed by Eduard Ferrand, Vice President Group Europe of the Nations and Freedom, Head of Delegation of the National Front in the European Parliament, the European official said that with the inauguration of Igor Dodon as President, it was the birth of a new Moldova – a free, neutral and sovereign Moldova.
The Member of the European Parliament congratulated the Moldovan head of state sworn to the top position in the name of Ms Marine Le Pen, wishing him success in this high and responsible office.
At his turn, Igor Dodon wished success to Mrs. Marine Le Pen in the upcoming presidential election in France, expressed hope in the continuation of favorable trends of Moldovan-French relations.
Congratulations on the occasion of the investiture in office and an invitation to visit Yerevan within the shortest possible time was transmitted from Igor Dodon by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan. During the meeting, there were discussed issues of the Moldovan-Armenian agenda, starting and ending with air traffic exchange practices in collaboration with UEEA.
During a meeting with a group of priests from Mount Ahtos, Igor Dodon was handed in the icon of St. Michael the Archangel.
"Our Moldovan people has a future only if we keep our traditional values and the Orthodox Church. This year I had the opportunity to visit Mount Athos, where I prayed for the people of Moldova, and I am glad that today to the inauguration came representatives of Mount Athos who have blessed for good things the Moldovan people," Igor Dodon concluded.
