President Igor Dodon signed decree of General Prosecutor’s resignation

Today General Prosecutor resigned. On the basis of Mr. Harunjen’s request, Igor Dodon signed the decree to release him from the office.

Considering the urgent need to ensure functioning of the Prosecutor’s office in the interests of citizens of Republic of Moldova, the Head of State stressed that it is important that the new General Prosecutor’s office is elected in the shortest time and in strict compliance with the law.

As well President of the country mentioned that new General Prosecutor has to have citizenship of Republic of Moldova, have experience working in Public prosecutor’s office, be honest and capable to reestablish positive image of the institution through the law, investigation of multiple illegalities including those committed in the past.

Igor Dodon specified that only this kind of candidate submitted by Superior Council of Prosecutor’s office will be accepted by President of the Republic of Moldova as the General Prosecutor.
