President Michel, dear Charles, I am pleased to welcome you back in Chisinau. Your visit comes at an important moment in the relationship of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, but also in a complicated context for the region. I appreciate this sign of solidarity with the citizens of my country.
Today we have convened a meeting of the Supreme Security Council on the subject of the incidents in the Transnistrian region and the security developments in the region. What has been happening over the last 24 hours in the Transnistrian region is an escalation of tensions.
I convened today the meeting for establishing the National Committee for European Integration, that brings together representatives of several authorities and will coordinate the preparation process of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European Union, for which a lot of work has to be done.
Dear Prime Minister De Croo, Welcome to the Republic of Moldova! Thank you for your visit when we face difficult times in our region. A month ago, we marked 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, and your visit is a good opportunity to boost political dialogue and strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Belgium.
Dear President Egils Levits, Welcome to Chisinau! This visit was planned for a long time and thank you for accepting my invitation. Your visit continues the tradition of good relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Latvia, which we wish to develop further.
