The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met today in Paris with Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly of the French Republic, and a group of deputies of the French legislative forum. The discussion focused on the current situation in our country and the bilateral cooperation.
The Head of State noted that due to Russia's war against Ukraine, our country is affected by several crises, the population and the economy are feeling the impact of the energy crisis the most. In this context, the President reiterated the importance of the European and EU member countries' support to resist this crisis and not allowing it to destabilise Moldova.
President Maia Sandu thanked the members of the French legislative forum for their support to our European path, especially in obtaining the status of EU candidate country. The Head of State also mentioned that she was counting on France's support in the implementation of our country's reform agenda and the recovery of stolen assets. The President also expressed her hope for a more intense inter-parliamentary cooperation, including a visit to Moldova of Yaël Braun-Pivet and her colleagues.
The Head of State also stressed the importance of intensifying the economic cooperation and increasing the French investments in Moldova. The President also expressed her hope that France would ratify the double taxation agreement as soon as possible, which would benefit the citizens of both countries.
