Moldovan President Maia Sandu greeted Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă in Bucharest today and discussed cooperation in areas of strategic interest, such as energy, infrastructure, and transport.
"I appreciated the signing of the Agreement on coordinated control at the Leuseni - Albița border crossing point and expressed my hope that it will be put into practice soon," the head of state said.
At the same time, President Maia Sandu thanked the Romanian Government for the prompt and unconditional help offered to Moldova in the most difficult situations. "Romania supplied us with electricity when we ran out of power, provided us with gas, firewood, and fuel oil, and offered us budgetary aid to be able to provide compensation to people with modest incomes for their energy bills," the head of state said.
President Maia Sandu also mentioned the support from Bucharest: "Today I received assurances that Romania will continue to help us, as always, and the Bucharest executive will support us in the process of accession to the European Union. I confirmed to Prime Minister Ciucă that the new government in Chisinau will continue the good dialogue with the Romanian executive, with Prime Minister Dorin Recean already announcing that his first official visit will be to Bucharest next week," highlighted the head of state.
