President Maia Sandu met today with Olivér Várhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, who is on a working visit to Chișinău to initiate the bilateral process of screening the compliance of national legislation with EU legislation. The agenda of the discussions included topics regarding the progress of the Republic of Moldova in the process of accession to the European Union, regional security, and the EU support for the country's modernization efforts.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the significant financial assistance provided by the European Union. Additionally, President Maia Sandu emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine, including to ensure security in the Republic of Moldova and the region.
The President reaffirmed our country's commitment to advancing on the European path, highlighting that the authorities will finalize the initiated reforms, including in the field of justice.
