The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, participated today in the 18th Francophonie Summit. In her message to the heads of state and government gathered in Djerba, Tunisia, the Head of State spoke of the unprecedented challenges generated by Russia's war in Ukraine at regional and global level, and called for the strengthening of international efforts to restore peace on the European continent.
The Head of State said that the whole world is currently facing a series of crises, the consequences of which are deeply affecting our populations, and the biggest challenge this year is the unprovoked, unjustified and illegal war of aggression waged by Russia against Ukraine, an observer state of the Francophonie. President Maia Sandu reiterated that the Republic of Moldova strongly condemns this war, which also deeply affects our country, and highlighted the generosity of our citizens during the refugee crisis.
The President stressed that Russia's war against Ukraine affects international law and food security, increases global energy prices and nuclear risks. "The French-speaking world must be an area of solidarity and cooperation in the face of a war whose economic, food and energy repercussions are unprecedented," said President Maia Sandu at the 18th Francophonie Summit.
