Today, President Maia Sandu visited one of the biggest modernization projects in the city of Drochia and met with mayors and representatives of local authorities from the district.
The head of state appreciated that the city will have a landscaped park, more playgrounds, sports fields and a running track. The project, worth almost 11 million lei, is financed by the National Fund for Regional and Local Development and co-financed by the municipality.
During the meeting with mayors and representatives of local authorities, the President emphasized the objective of modernization of each locality and underlined the results of the “European Village” program, which has already reached 18 localities in the district. 60 million lei have been invested in 24 projects - water and sewage networks, renovation and equipping of schools and kindergartens, street lighting and other infrastructure projects. “With the involvement of the local administration and the financial support of European partners, Moldova is modernizing and improving living conditions," said the head of state.
Also today, President Maia Sandu had discussions with the residents of Chetrosu village, Drochia. “I had a very nice meeting with people from the locality and neighboring villages. Under the European Village Program, a 14 km street lighting network was recently built in Chetrosu, and the concert hall of the House of Culture was renovated. With Romania's support, renovation works have been carried out at the two kindergartens in the village. Chetrosu is a lively locality, with people who believe that European integration means more security and more opportunities for development, including for their locality”, the head of state noted.
