The head of state had a first discussion today with the Kyiv-based ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Moldova, Salem Ahmed Al Kaabi.
The two interlocutors discussed issues related to the bilateral agenda between the Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates. They also discussed the possibilities of boosting trade-economic relations by attracting Emirati investments in the Moldovan economy. The President discussed the possibility of resuming direct flights and the inclusion of our country in the list of countries whose citizens are granted visas on arrival in the UAE.
President Maia Sandu congratulated the UAE on the successful organisation of the Dubai 2020 Expo and welcomed the hosting of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) to be held later this year. The Republic of Moldova supports multilateral cooperation to manage climate change and implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
